Oscar Ceremonnies for 1976
Today you are invited by the Academy to view highlights from the 49th Academy Awards where Rocky won Best Picture, Faye Dunaway won Best Actress, and Beatrice Straight won Best Supporting Actress. The 49th Academy Awards was held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on March 28, 1977. That year, the Academy honored films that were from 1976 and Sylvester Stallone became the 3rd person to be honored as an actor and as a screenwriter. The other two were Charles Chaplin in 1940 and Orson Welles in 1941.
The Apple Computer Company was formed in April by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. In July, “Son of Sam” fired his first shots as a notorious serial killer and in Montreal, Canada, the Summer Olympics granted its first perfect score in gymnastics to Nadia Comaneci. She receive seven perfect scores that year. NASA released a photo from Viking I entitled “Face On Mars.” In November, Jimmy Carter won the Presidential Election.

2011 Academy Awards
The Nominees for the 83rd Academy Awards will be announced at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time today, January 25, 2011. You can view the announcements streaming live on the internet on their Facebook page or on the Academy’s website.
Presenters this year will include Sandra Bullock, Oprah Winfrey, Halle Berry, and Jeff Bridges. All of these presenters have been nominated in the past for the Oscar award. Berry won Best Actress in 2001, Bullock won Best Actress in 2010, Bridges won Best Actor in 2010, and Winfrey was nominated for her supporting role in “The Color Purple.”
The 83rd Annual Academy Awards will be televised live on the ABC Television Network on Sunday, February 27, 2011 from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre.
